One of my favorite things in nature is the first snow of the cold season. It gives you that nostalgic feeling that the holidays are soon upon us. It’s a reminder of how important it is to sometimes just hunker down, cuddle and spend time with your family. It’s at these times that we (my family) love to sit down together and reminisce of past years, past experiences, and funny stories.
There’s just something about that silent stillness that a snow with large snowflakes brings. It’s so peaceful. It reminds me of Ps. 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God…” Life in this world can become so chaotic sometimes. Especially over the past couple months. There has been so much destruction, pain, and heartache both from nature as well as from human choices. Those snowstorms of silence have a way of pulling you out of the chaos even if it is only briefly. It’s too bad that first snowstorms are almost always very short lived and then it’s back to normalcy. However, I’m always thankful for the reminder that wonderful times are shortly ahead.
